My cat has a spot on his back near his tail that is balding. It started balding in the area about 2 months ago and was originally the size of a lime and now is the size of an orange. He is not bothered by it and I never see him licking in the spot. The skin is not irritated nor does it have and lesions or redness. I originally attributed it the the normal fur loss during the summer but now and becoming more concerned. I plan on taking him to the vet as soon as I can afford the visit but was wondering if you had any answers in the meantime.
